Sterlite Power's Mumbai Urja Marg Transmission (MUML) division has commissioned 400 kV Banaskantha, Kansari and Vadavi transmission lines in Gujarat. The high voltage transmission line will help evacuate about 1,000 MW of renewable energy from the polar station in Bhuj in northern Gujarat to the national power grid.
In addition, the transmission line, which has been commissioned four months ahead of schedule, will significantly increase the state's available transmission capacity from 9,300 MW to 11,200 MW.
Against India's sustainable capacity of 90 GW, Gujarat's contribution is about 12 GW. Based on its strong energy infrastructure, Gujarat aims to generate more than 67 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
