Nuberg EPC has been awarded a 250tpd chlor-alkali plant project in Karaikal, Puducherry. The project is owned by Chemfab Alkalis, a chemical manufacturer in India. This project will be Nuberg EPC's first greenfield caustic soda project delivery in India.
It will carry out this project based on the bipolar membrane-based electrolysis system technology. Bipolar membrane cell technology electrolyzer is environmentally friendly, widely used and is in continuous evolution worldwide. This allows the installation to be easily upgraded to the latest developments in the future and requires a small maintenance area. The plant is expected to be ready for production in 22 months. The company is taking over the project on the basis of an EPCM service contract.
The factory will produce caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite, anhydrous sodium sulfate and sodium carbonate which can be used by textile industry, aluminum industry, paper and pulp industry, water industry, etc.

In the recent past, it has projects worldwide and is currently executing projects for Lineer Kostik Soda Sanayi Anomin Sirketi in Turkey, sulfuric acid project for Sprea Misr in Egypt, for Awash Melkassa Chemical Industry in Ethiopia, for International Company for Chemical Industry (ICCI) in Egypt, hydrogen peroxide plant for Uzbekistan Hydrogen JU LLC in Uzbekistan, and for Koruma Klor Alkali San Vetic A.S in Turkey. And in India, it operates a bioethanol plant for Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) in Panipat, an NPK plant for The Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) in Kochi, and a sulfur recovery unit (SRU) and hydrogen fuel delivery plant for IOCL in Vadodara, Gujarat.
