Adani to Procure 1 GW Renewable Power with Thermal

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has authorized Adani Electricity Mumbai (AEML) to purchase 1,000 MW of renewable energy combined with thermal energy (500 MW plus an additional 500 MW under the green shoe option).

The committee added a stipulation that the green shoe option can only be exercised if the proposed procurement process begins after October 2024 and there is no further expansion of the 500 MW supply from the Adani Dahanu Thermal Power Station.

The committee's decision came in response to AEML's petition seeking permission to purchase 1,000 MW of power from grid-connected renewable energy projects, supplemented by power from coal-fired power plants on a 24-hour (RTC) basis.
