RHI Magnesita, the leading global supplier of refractories, announces the acquisition of the Indian refractories business of Dalmia Bharat Refractories (“DBRL”). DBRL is one of India's leading refractory players and a long-standing reliable partner for customers in the region.
The acquisition will significantly increase RHI Magnesita's presence in the fast-growing Indian refractory market, with India's steel production projected to grow at 12 percent by 2022 and a compound annual growth rate of 7-8 percent through 2030. of DBRL into RHI Magnesita's existing operations will generate significant network optimization synergies.
The company employs approximately 1,200 people in India and has a production capacity of more than 300,000 tonnes of refractory material per annum from five refractory factories and raw material sites. The acquisition adds production capacity in key industrial regions in southern and western India, where RHI Magnesita currently has no assets.
