JK Lakshmi Cement has teamed up with GreenLine, an Indian pioneer in green and smart logistics, to introduce LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks for cement transportation.
With this partnership, GreenLine will enable JK Lakshmi Cement to gradually decarbonise its road logistics activities over the coming years.
Starting with a fleet of 10 LNG trucks operating from Sirohi in Rajasthan to Surat in Gujarat, the companies plan to expand this significantly over the next two years.
Each LNG truck saves around 35 tons of CO2 emissions per year. JK Lakshmi Cement plans to reduce CO2 emissions by switching to LNG-powered logistics, not only to meet environmental targets but also to improve ESG performance.
Trucks in India usually run on diesel. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is a less polluting alternative on long-haul routes.
“JK Lakshmi Cement believes in sustainable & responsible growth that includes our society and the environment," announced Arun Shukla, President & Director, JK Lakshmi Cement.
