The government of Telangana is currently implementing the land pooling system on allotted properties in the state especially in and around Hyderabad after initiating land auctions as a means of mobilizing resources. The government plans to get about Rs 10,000 crore in the coming months from the land pooling scheme, which will cover about 3,500 hectares.
Several locations including Thorrur, Turkayamjal, Manneguda, Munagnuru, Pasumamula, Lemoor, Kollur, Mokila and several areas in Qutbullapur and Uppal constituencies are planning land pooling plans, according to sources.
In accordance with the land pooling plan, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) develops the land of the farmers and makes developed plots available to them in exchange for their land.
Officials said land allocated by the government had been allocated to the landless poor for agricultural purposes decades ago. But the successors in title (farmers) have no authority to sell or transfer the land to other private parties (transfer prohibition), which is also not legally valid.
Due to urbanization in many districts, especially in HMDA jurisdiction districts such as Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and Sangareddy, the land has been destined for non-agricultural use and illegal transactions have taken place, a senior tax official said.
