Average pan-Indian cement prices fell 1% month-on-month (Rs 4/bag) on Dec 22, after witnessing gradual price increases over the past three months. Prices fell 2% MoM in the East and South, while remaining broadly flat in other regions as of Dec. 22. In Q3FY23, average cement prices across India increased by 2-2.5% (Rs 8-10/bag) on a YoY and QoQ basis.
Industry volumes were likely flat to marginally positive year-over-month and month-over-month in December 22. In Q3FY23, volumes are expected to be up 7-8% year-over-year, led by a favorable foundation and strong government infrastructure push, with the East and South leading regionally.
