Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways graced the bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2023 in Greater Noida with its presence in August. He glanced through the entire exhibition space and was optimistic about the prospect of witnessing some innovative products and technologies that are sure to change the country's construction and infrastructure horizon.
He urged construction equipment manufacturers to make equipment that turns on alternative fuel instead of diesel to curb air pollution. Speaking to the crowd, he said: "You have to enter into joint ventures with foreign companies about the use of alternative fuel machines. We plan to impose an additional 20% GST on diesel-powered equipment."
"We are faced with the problem of pollution. Our health is affected by pollution and this is the time we need to think about air, water and soil pollution. Now is the time to preserve and protect infrastructure development at the same time the ecology and the environment," he said at the inauguration of bauma Conexpo India.
He stressed that alternative fuels such as hydrogen, electricity, CNG, LNG and ethanol are available, which should be used. He also stated: "The government is determined to make India Aatmanirbhar Bharat and infrastructure development plays an important role in this.
In an interesting panel discussion on the topic of 'Indian Growth Story Led By Infrastructure Development' during the ICEMA-bC India session, top industry technocrats discussed the various aspects with the aim of pushing the boundaries of Indian infrastructure growth.
Speaking about the construction industry, he added: "Based on the data, the sector is expected to increase at a rate of around 6.2% between 2023 and 2026, which is a phenomenal growth rate. Our pillars are focused on the products, services and digital ecosystem we bring to the table. Along with the products come services, to make a holistic offer. We are now coming up with digital solutions for the mining and construction industry," he said.
