BCCL plans digging deeper coal deposits

Mumbai : BCCL plans digging deeper coal deposits Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Coal India Limited (CIL), is all set for digging deeper deposits of coal and has readied global tenders for exploiting the high capacity underground coal mine deposits. The current underground production of about 4 mt will be increased to 11 mt per annum in the next three years and it has also drawn up an ambitious plan to push the company into a positive territory earning profit to the tune of Rs. 3,500cr per annum probably by the end of one and half decades, Chairman and Managing Director T K Lehri said.

He added that the BCCL has finalized tenders for Muraidih underground mines with capacity of 2 million tons of non coking and medium coking coal, Block II underground mine of 0.5mt non coking coal, Kapuria under ground mine of 2 mt prime coking coal and Moondih XV with 2.5mt capacity of prime coking coal. Ensuring further capacity addition, the company is also in the process of clearing tenders for nine other underground mines of about 7 mt per annum of prime coking coal capacity. The on going initiative will not just augment the underground coal production but also improve the growth in underground production and contribute profit to the company, besides facilitating the introduction of state of the art technologies.
