GreenLine Logistics, a company of the Essar Group, announced on Friday that it has deployed Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd's first fleet of LNG trucks at its Chandrapur plant in Maharashtra. These trucks will be gradually introduced to Dalmia Cement's plants in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
According to a statement, Dalmia Cement plans to transfer 300 trucks to LNG by the end of FY24 as part of its green logistics strategy for decarbonizing its transport fleet.
Dalmia Cement, a subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Ltd and a leading Indian cement manufacturer, is working with GreenLine Logistics on this important initiative to build a 'green' supply chain, with an initial order of 35 LNG trucks.
"We are proud to be Dalmia Cement's chosen partner in their journey to decarbonise their heavy-duty trucks," said Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine. "We will invest $2500 million to enable the transition of 10% of their fleet to LING by March 2024."
According to a spokesperson for Dalmia Cement, the company's total CO2 emissions have fallen from 670 kg per tonne to 467 kg per tonne.
