The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has proposed to develop a 350 sq km settlement at the city port. The proposed city is conceptualized to focus on infrastructure such as transport connectivity, even before buildings appear.
The Authority believes the region will be the fastest growing hub in the country over the next decade, thanks to key projects such as Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Mumbai Transharbour Link (MTHL).
Considering the impact of MTHL and NMIA, which are expected to boost the national GDP, this will make the Navi Mumbai region a hotspot for economic activity.
Additionally, 2025 is expected to be a defining year as several projects currently underway in the metropolis will come to fruition. The NMIA project is also expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
