Udaipur Cement Works (UCWL), a subsidiary of JK Lakshmi Cement, has increased its cement production with the expansion of its clinker plant. The company announced the commissioning of its 1.50 tonne per annum clinkerization unit in Udaipur.
This growth is made possible by the availability of sufficient land and the necessary reserves of limestone in the company's existing mines. The company expects a notable increase in cement demand in the coming years.
Shrivats Singhania, Director and CEO of Udaipur Cement Works, said: “This expansion project is our response to ensure a smooth and resilient supply chain that can effectively respond to this growing demand. By the end of FY23-24, our total cement capacity will more than double to 4.7 tonnes per annum from the existing 2.2 tonnes per annum.”
This capacity expansion has been financed through a combination of debt and equity. It recently completed its Rs 450 crore rights issue.
UCWL is proud of the two renowned brands in its portfolio - 'Platinum Heavy Duty Cement' and 'Platinum Supremo Cement', which cater to a wide spectrum of construction needs. It has installed the first of its kind in Rajasthan and the only one in the entire Indian cement industry: a 1 MWp floating solar power plant in its mines. Furthermore, UCWL actively pursues its CSR through various welfare programs such as 'Ajivika', which helps underprivileged women and children living near the factory.
