The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to complete work on the Lucknow Outer Ring Road (ORR) by December this year. Construction of two Railway Overbridges (ROBs) and one bridge on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway is underway.
The project aims to help pilgrims reach the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Currently, around 20 per cent work is pending in the project between Behta (next to Mohan) and Sitapur Expressway (next to Bakshi-Ka-Talab).
The Rs 3,500-crore project started in 2020. There would be two service lanes on either side of the ORR, making it an eight-lane project. Work is being carried out on the expressway flyover connecting Lucknow and Hardoi as well as on the Gomti river. Construction of an underpass on Jehta Mall Road was also underway.
Also, construction of a B-loop 'leaf' for entry and exit from the Kanpur and Lucknow side of the ORR is underway in the section connecting Rae Bareli Expressway and Kanpur Expressway.
