L&T Construction buildings, factories and transport infrastructure companies have won a project from GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport for the engineering, procurement and construction of the new Bhogapuram International Airport in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh.
The project will be initially developed to handle a capacity of 6 MPA (million passengers per year) and will later be expanded to a capacity of 12 MPA.
The main development works include cut and fill works, terminal works with airport systems, ATC tower, airfield development works (3800 meter long south runway, apron, taxiways, airfield ground lighting, fuel hydrants and other facilities), land facilities (roads, landscapes, etc.), utilities and other support facilities.
Currently, Larsen & Toubro is carrying out the construction works of major airports in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Navi Mumbai.
