An Indian company has been contracted to build recycled hybrid power plants on three islands in Jaffna district, northern Sri Lanka, according to a senior minister.
Monday's Cabinet meeting decided to award the contract to U Solar Clean Energy Solutions (Pvt) Ltd for the construction of recycled hybrid power plants in Delft, Nainathivu and Analathivu, Cabinet Spokesperson and Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.
The decision came after a competitive bidding process limited only to Indian suppliers and initiated after India provided an $11 million grant for the project.
According to a cabinet memo, the contract was awarded to U Solar Clean Energy Solutions after a thorough evaluation by the cabinet-appointed procurement committee.
