In a major step towards improving the use of renewable energy in Bihar, the Bihar State Power Generation Company (BSPGCL) has floated a tender to set up a 185 MW (AC) solar power plant accompanied by a battery energy storage system of 254 MW. in Kajra, Lakhisarai district.
The project, estimated to be worth Rs 2,26,000 towards earnest money deposit (EMD), underlines the State's commitment to sustainable development and meets the growing demand for clean energy.
The tender notice requests consultancies to provide Owner Engineer (OE) services essential for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of this important initiative in the field of renewable energy.
The timeline for the bidding process has been outlined, starting with the availability of the tender specifications for purchase starting January 1, 2024. A pre-bid meeting is planned for January 8, 2024, in online format. The deadline for online submission of DME and original bids has been set for January 22, 2024, with technical bids expected to be opened on the same day.
The financial component of the bids will be communicated to eligible bidders via email, reflecting a transparent and digitally progressive approach to the bidding process. The entire bidding procedure will be carried out through e-bidding, which can be downloaded from the eproc2.bihar.gov.in portal. This highlights the state's commitment to digitalization and efficiency, requiring online payments and electronic document submission.
Bihar's strategic move towards widespread integration of solar energy with energy storage marks significant progress in the state's energy security and sustainability goals. The inclusion of battery storage is particularly notable as it will effectively manage the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources and ensure a more stable and reliable power supply.
This initiative is in line with India's National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), in which the National Solar Mission plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable energy and reducing the country's carbon footprint. .
With this project, Bihar is set to make substantial progress in its renewable energy capacity, marking a crucial milestone in India's journey towards a more environmentally friendly future.
