Larsen & Toubro's heavy engineering subsidiary (L&T) has manufactured a massive hydroprocessing reactor for the Antonio Dovalle Jaime refinery in Salina Cruz, Mexico. Weighing 1,751 metric tons, it is one of the heaviest reactors in the world.
The giant reactor was shipped to Mexico from L&T's AM Naik heavy engineering complex in Hazira, Gujarat.
Equipped with mining equipment. The critical Cr-Mo-V hydroprocessing reactor is based on technology developed by France-based Axens. It was manufactured at the Hazira complex in a record time of 15 months utilizing high-tech engineering, Industrial Manufacturing 4.0 and world-class quality processes.
The reactor uses the hydrotreating process, which is the catalytic conversion process in oil refining. Among others, to remove impurities such as nitrogen and sulfur compounds from hydrocarbon streams.
Anil V Parab, Managing Director and Senior Executive Vice President, L&T Heavy Engineering and L&T Valves, thanked the customer for his unwavering trust. At L&T, while awarding back-to-back orders for critical equipment and congratulating the heavy engineering team for manufacturing such a complex reactor in record time, where fast delivery was of the essence.
