K2 Infragen has secured a significant contract worth Rs 90.2 crore for constructing a four-lane rail overbridge on the Patna-Mughalsarai section of Danapur Division in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. This tender was won by a joint venture between Gangasagar Singh and PRL Infrastructure, with K2 Infragen responsible for the complete execution of the project, entrusted by the UP-State Bridge Corporation. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will contribute to the ongoing development of connectivity corridors, enhancing mobility across railway tracks in Uttar Pradesh.
This development aligns with the priorities outlined in this year’s Union Budget, which allocated Rs 2.41 lakh crore to the domestic railway sector for purchasing modern Vande Bharat trains, laying new tracks, doubling existing routes, and implementing automated train safety technology. Uttar Pradesh received a substantial allocation of Rs 17,507 crore from the railway budget.
Commenting on this development, Pankaj Sharma, managing director, K2 Infragen, said “We are elated to have been entrusted with the responsibility of executing this pivotal project. The addition of this order is estimated to contribute Rs. 35 crores to K2 Infragen’s revenues for the fiscal year 2024-2025. The completion of this 4 Lane Rail Over Bridge shall significantly enhance the railway infrastructure of the Patna-Mughalsarai section in Chandauli and contribute to the developmental efforts being undertaken by the government to modernize the Indian Railways. With this Rail Over Bridge Project, we look forward to making an impactful contribution to enhancing connectivity and mobility in the North Indian region by prioritizing quality work and timely completion.”
This contract adds to K2 Infragen’s illustrious project portfolio which includes a track record spanning the engineering, procurement and construction of roads, bridges, railways, water supply works, and buildings, significantly boosting its impressive order book to Rs 443.73 crores. The company is also currently involved in the construction of a similar 2 lane flyover for the Public Works Department of Madhya Pradesh.
