Alpex Solar announced that it will focus on manufacturing solar cells. The company plans to build a 1.6 gigawatt (GW) plant in Kosi Kotwan, Mathura. The estimated project cost is Rs 6.42 billion.
As stated in the official press release, the expansion will take place in three phases, with the first 500 MW expected to be operational in October 2025. The remaining two phases are scheduled for completion in April 2026 and September 2026, respectively.
Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director of Alpex Solar, said that this initiative is the largest since the company’s inception and is aimed at enhancing their product offering. He said that the solar business would strengthen their vision of integrated solutions, which currently includes solar PV modules, aluminium frames, EPC services and IPP expertise.
The Greater Noida-based company, listed on NSE Emerge, noted that the capital requirements would be met through additional facilities from banks and financial institutions, internal allocations and equity infusion. Earlier this year, the company acquired a seven-acre plot from the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Authority to set up its second manufacturing unit. They said the solar cell manufacturing facility would be built at the same location, along with a recently announced plan to set up a greenfield facility for 1.2 GW of solar PV modules.
