UltraTech Cement has announced the commissioning of an additional 1.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) grinding capacity at its existing facility in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu. This expansion is part of the larger capacity increase of 22.6 mtpa announced in June 2022. With this addition, UltraTech’s total cement capacity now stands at 156.06 mtpa.
UltraTech Cement is the flagship cement business of the Aditya Birla Group and is the third largest cement producer in the world outside China with a consolidated grey cement capacity of 154.86 mtpa.
In its Q1 FY25 results, UltraTech reported a marginal increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,696.59 crore, up from ₹1,688.45 crore in Q1 FY24. Revenue from operations also rose 1.87% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to reach ₹18,069.56 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024.
On October 17, 2024, the company's stock price fell by 0.71% to close at ?11,324.40.
