NHAI targets 100 road projects

Mumbai : NHAI targets 100 road projects for the fiscal The National Highways Authority of India has targeted to award 100 road projects with a length of over 11,151km during the current financial year. The nodal agency is contemplating to award at least eight projects every month and has already prepared a tentative list in this connection, said NHAI sources.

They said adding that out of the total number of projects targeted for the fiscal, 15 belonged to the phase-III of NHDP, 57 under phase –IV and 27 would be awarded under the phase-V of the national highways development program. Industry insiders claimed that awarding the targeted projects in a year is possible as various other changes recently added to the norms will help the agency in its stepped up project awarding mechanism. Easing norms will help the developers to save at least six months of time that goes in preparing for the document every time one goes for the bidding. It is largely awarding the projects on the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) module and pushing the annuity model of road building on the backburner.
