In this connection the company has inked an agreement with the state government for providing the package to every affected family at the rate of Rs. 15lakh per acre compensation besides make available one permanent job to each of the affected families and making arrangement for the education of the eligible family members. In addition it will also invest about Rs. 4cr in creating the civic infrastructure in the affected villages and after that will invest Rs. 25lakh per annum on each village. According to Executive Director, S Padmanabhan the total project requires an investment of worth Rs. 9,000cr and the upcoming power plant will run on low sulphur coal imported from Indonesia for which a coal jetty will have to be built in the Dharamtar creek and all the other clearances, including environmental, have already been put in place. After completing the land acquisition process the plant will take about four years to become fully operational, he claimed.
