Integrated transport strategy critical for effective logistic in India - CII

Mumbai : Moving materials effectively is always a challenge. In this mineral rich region of the country, new investments in power & steel puts additional demand on the logistical services. Railways form a lifeline for these bulk materials. Augmentation of capacities, improved throughput, better handling facilities along with investments in auxiliary infrastructure goes a long way in easing the present load on the road ways while considerably improving the logistical efficiencies. While the roads would continue to bear the major volume of traffic at least in the short term, specially for the last mile, it is essential that the interchanges between these two networks are strengthened. The beauty of supply chain efficiency lies in its ability to deliver value to the bottom line.
