Drydock Receives First German Container Vessel and Raysut Cement Carrier

New Delhi : Oman Drydock Company received the first German container vessel, owned by one of the major German companies and specialized in containers transportation, in addition to the local ship, Raysut Cement Carrier. Sheikh Khalil al Salmi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oman Drydock Company said that the Oman Drydock project at A'Duqum is one of the crucial projects in the Sultanate as it will be as main support of the national product and an added value to international and Middle Eastern marine shipping sector.

He added that since last April, Oman Drydock Company has repaired 12 ships of different sizes. Today, the company receives the German container vessel, the first of its kind at the dock, which is 168 meters long and 26.7 meter wide. The ship accommodates 1608 containers. The dock also received another ship, a local ship owned by Raysut Cement Company. Its maximum load is 9813 tons.
