An official spokesperson in a statement said that the latest move by the state government has been aimed at positioning itself as the most sought after destination for both leisure as well as religious tourism and to achieve this it is adopting various modules including organizing world class road shows to attract international investors from the offshore, adopting publicity blitz through news channels and availing the services of the print media including newspapers and magazines beginning in September this year. The authority has also targeted to attract the huge flow of Buddhist religious tourists from South East Asia as a majority of 1.7 crore visitors who thronged the state last year headed for places of worships and areas of high religious interests like Dwarka, Somnath, Ambaji and Palitana, he claimed.
