Par panel raps Road Min for delays in NS-EW Corridor project

New Delhi : Sep 4:A parliamentary panel has lambasted the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for inordinate delays in the flagship North South-East West Corridor project under the National Highways Development Programme, saying it reveals a "sorry state of affairs". The North South-East West Corridor (NS-EW) is the largest ongoing highway project in India under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) and involves the construction of 7,300 kilometres of four/six-lane roads connecting Srinagar in the North, Kanyakumari in the South, Porbandar in the West and Silchar in the East.

The committee are distressed to note that the flagship project of the NHDP, i.e. NS-EW corridor, has been crippled by inordinate delays. All NS-EW projects, which are under implementation, have well passed the date of completion as per contracts, which reveals a sorry state of affairs
