Revision in coal royalty under consideration

The major coal producing States such as Jharkhand, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have requested for fixation of royalty rates on ad-valorem basis.

The proposal is under consideration of the new Study Group, set up by the Ministry of Coal, to recommend revision of the royalty rates on coal and lignite. The Study Group has already collected the views/comments of all the concerned stakeholders through questionnaires as well as direct meetings.
