Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board (PWSSB) is maintaining the STPs and according to their records Balloke treatment plant produces 2,400 cubic metres of biogas a day and Bhattian plant produces 5,000 cubic metres a day. Officers of PWSSB are claiming to run two generators of 320KVA.
From Bhattian and Balloke the authorities are hoping to generate energy but they cannot do the same from the STP in Jamalpur. PWSSB officers admit that the discharge from dyeing units gets mixed with the discharge of domestic sewerage at Jamalpur therefore they can't generate energy from the biogas coming out of that STP.
