Railway stations to adopt better waste management policies

Contrary to the general impression that the stations are dirty, the stations are cleaner compared to several public areas. The three major train stations are equipped with a good system for the separation and disposal of waste.

In accordance with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines for railway stations, the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) has issued a circular requesting authorities to monitor the state of waste management in the railway stations. It has requested total waste management in all train stations.

The train stations have partnered with local authorities to collect waste from nearby shops, platforms, waiting rooms and toilets.
