Panjim City will get 24x7 water supply with Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system as administrative approval and spending sanctions have been granted for eight components or works by Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).
According to the available information, administrative approval and spending sanctions have been granted for eight of the thirteen components. The Department of Public Works and Water Management (PWD) will be responsible for all these projects.
Replacement of 3.3 kilovolt motors and control panels, supply and installation of pumps, supply and installation of three modular substations, replacement of centrifugal pumps, vertical pumps, retro-filling of two vertical turbine pumps, replacement of search control valves, execution of a digitization project, and implementation of a smart water supply system to stop Non-Revenue Water (NRW) are all part of the project.
Two of the three modular substations will be built at the Opa Water Treatment Plant for the special pipeline that will supply water to Panjim City, and one will be built in Altinho.
The construction of a 2000-litre sump and a 650-litre overhead reservoir, both proposed for Altinho, is currently in the tendering process.
The 13 components are estimated to cost Rs 77.37 crore in total.
In Goa, the per capita water requirement is 150 liters per capita per day (LPCD) in urban areas with sewage system, 140 liters per head per day (LPCD) in areas without sewage system and 70 liters per day per person in rural areas.
Consumers, on the other hand, use more water and the excess is used for gardening, washing vehicles and cleaning their homes, according to the PWD (water supply section).
24x7 water supply, according to PWD sources, is not round the clock water, but rather a facility for customers to store water in wells in their homes.
