Govt efforts to turn water conservation into a mass movement

The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making efforts to conserve water, turning it into a mass movement of its own.

The government led by Prime Minister Modi has taken multiple steps in forming a targeted ministry for water resources to implement a holistic approach to conservation.

The government has supported innovative approach to programs with the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), Per Drop More Crop, Namami Gange and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), apart from the river link projects.

With the launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019 alone, about 90 million households have been provided with similar water connections in the past two years, Oman Observer reported.
