Madhya Pradesh is starting another tap water supply project under the center's Jal Jeevan mission, which will serve 18 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior.
The project, worth Rs 110 billion, was approved by the state government's Department of Public Health Engineering.
Through this scheme, arrangements will be made to supply water through tap connections to every household of the rural population of 18 districts, which includes 6,261 villages with more than 930,000 families.
“These schemes will meet the drinking water needs of more than 71 lakh rural populations of Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Mandla, Khargone, Khandwa, Betul, Sagar, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Datia and Shivpuri districts," a government statement said.
It added that so far more than 51,15 rural families in the state have received water from taps in their homes through the work being done under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
