MoHUA In a move to encourage tidiness and hygiene, IIM Indore has partnered with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIM Indore, which will provide the best leadership and best training for sanitation and waste management in urban india.
A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed last week by Prof Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, and Roopa Mishra, Joint Secretary of MoHUA. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri unveiled the CoE at the Swachh Shehar Samvad and Tech Exhibition in Delhi.
Hardeep Singh Puri said on the occasion, "There have also been Centers of Excellence before, but when they take a 'Swachhata dimension' and start delivering the highest academic rigor, we realize that we are moving towards Aatmnirbhar Bharat. "
Prof Rai shared details about the MoU and said that IIM Indore has received a grant of Rs 199.50 million from the MoHUA. 'Indore has been the 'cleanest city' under the Swachh Bharat Survekshan for the past five years. The Center of Excellence under the MoU will design and implement training and development courses for political leadership, including mayors and district councilors, to build their capabilities, skills and sensitivity. “This training would strengthen their capacities to drive urban sanitation and waste management initiatives,” he said.
