Product Description :
Mandevilla 'Alice du Pont' is a woody, twining evergreen vine. It grows to a height of 20 feet but is much shorter when grown in a container. The leaves are dark green, glossy, oval and 3 to 8 inches long. Clusters of pure pink, flared, trumpet-shaped, 2- to 4- inch flowers appear among the leaves, spring through fall. Mandevilla, also known as rock trumpet, is a tropical vine that produces large showy blooms from late spring to fall. Trumpet-shaped five-petaled flowers, which occur in colors of red, white, pink, or yellow, are pleasingly fragrant and attractive to hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Native to Central and South America, mandevilla is a popular patio plant that is especially suited to containers. This tender perennial can be grown outdoors year-round in frost-free areas, treated as an annual in colder climates, or overwintered from year to year as a houseplant. Heres how to grow and display this low-maintenance vine in your landscape. Exposure: Full to partial sun Height/Spread: Vining spreading or bushy habit; 1 to 20 feet tall, 1 to 15 feet wide Bloom time: Late spring to fall, with nearly year-round bloom in frost-free climates Color and characteristics: This fast growing tropical vine produces fragrant five-petaled flowers in various shades of pink, red, white, or yellow, some with yellow throats. Oval-shaped glossy green leaves with a smooth or leathery texture grow 2 to 8 inches long. Vining types have a twining habit, benefitting from vertical support. Newer varieties are bred for more shrubby characteristics. Is mandevilla poisonous? Mandevilla plant is mildly toxic to children and pets. Cut stems exude a milky sap that can cause skin irritation.
