• This book is dedicated to the use of nanomaterials for the modification of asphalt binders, and to investigate whether or not the use of nanomaterials for asphalt mixtures fabrication achieves more effective asphalt pavement layers. A total of 10 contributions are included. Four are related to "Binder's modification" and five to "Asphalt mixtures' modification". The remaining contribution is a review of the effects of the modifications on nanomaterials, particularly nanosilica, nanoclays and nanoiron, on the performance of asphalt mixtures. The published group of papers fosters awareness about the use of nanomaterials to modify asphalt mixtures to obtain more performant and durable flexible road pavements.

• This Special Issue "Sustainable Designed Pavement Materials" has been proposed and organized as a means to present recent developments in the field of environmentally-friendly designed pavement materials. For this reason, articles included in this special issue relate to different aspects of pavement materials, from industry solid waste recycling to pavement materials recycling, from pavement materials modification to asphalt performance characterization, from pavement defect detection to pavement maintenance, and from asphalt pavement to cement concrete pavement.

• Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields includes the contributions to the 10th International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (BCRRA 2017, 28-30 June 2017, Athens, Greece). The papers cover aspects related to materials, laboratory testing, design, construction, maintenance and management systems of transport infrastructure, and focus on roads, railways and airfields. Additional aspects that concern new materials and characterization, alternative rehabilitation techniques, technological advances as well as pavement and railway track substructure sustainability are included.

• This book forms the Proceedings of an International RILEM Symposium, the fourth in the series, on Testing of Bituminous Mixes in Budapest, Hungary, October 1990. The aim of the Symposium is to promote tests for the characterization, design and quality control of bituminous mixes which combine the best features of traditional and modern approaches. Among the topics covered are specimen preparation, tests with unique loading (Marshall test, uniaxial tension and creep tests etc), which are used for mix design or control of mechanical properties, and tests with repeated loading, which give information on fatigue, permanent deformation and moduli, especially for mix design.

• The aim of the studies presented in this report is the implementation of rational concepts and testing procedures for the design and manufacture of bituminous materials for applications in pavement construction. Practical test procedures are recommended for binder evaluation, mix design and performance assessment of bituminous materials. The three main topics addressed are binder testing, mix design and mechanical testing of mixtures. Each is examined through interlaboratory tests and there is a literary review of existing practices and methods for the production of polymer modified binders, mixture design and the mechanical properties of mixtures.

Sicherlich sind die ersten Argumente gewichtiger als der Kontrast Fahrbahn zu Fahrbahnmarkierung, da vorn Sehvorgang bei einer hellen Stra?e bessere Voraussetzungen zum Erkennen von Hindernissen gegeben sind. Da das Auge auf verschiedene Helligkeiten von Gegenst?nden unterschiedlich reagiert und diese Empfindlichkeit bei geringen und sehr starken Hellig? keiten herabgesetzt ist, ist es die Aufgabe des Ingenieurs, g?nstige Voraussetzungen f?r die Sehbedingungen im Verkehrs? raum mit dem Ziel einer Verbesserung der Verkehrssicherheit zu schaffen. Zur L?sung dieses Problemkreises sind zwei Ingenieurbereiche angesprochen, einmal die Lichtingenieure zur Optimierung der Beleuchtungsseite und zum anderen die Bauingenieure, um inner? halb des Verkehrsraumes die Voraussetzungen von Seiten der Fahrbahn den Anspr?chen anzupassen. Die Ber?cksichtigung beider Arbeitsergebnisse sollen schlie?lich die guten L?? sungen liefern, die die Kraftfahrer erwarten. Seitens der Bauingenieure liegen jedoch erst sehr wenige Forschun- und Erfahrungswerte vor, so da? zur Zeit noch auf diesem Gebiet Grundlagenarbeit geleistet werden mu?. - 2 - 2. Wissensstand (Literatur?bersicht) Die Helligkeit eines Gegenstandes h?ngt vom Licht, das auf diesen Gegenstand f?llt, und von der Art und Gra?e ab, wie dieser Lichtstrahl reflektiert wird.
